  • 1982 – 1984:   scientific researcher at the „Geological Research“ of the Ministry of Geology, Freiberg (Germany)
  • 1984 – 1991:   post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of „Precambrian Geology and Geochronology“, St. Petersburg Academy of Science (Russia); during this period both children were born
  • 1991:   Ph.D. thesis (O- and C-isotopes of sedimentary and igneous carbonates), St. Petersburg Academy of Science (Russia)
  • since 1992:   TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany
  • since 1993:   head of the isotope laboratory (C, O, S, Rb-Sr, U-Pb)
  • 2002:   Habilitation in Geochemistry (Dr. habil) (Genesis of Gneisses from the Erzgebirge and comparison to other Saxothuringian units), TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany

  • Geochronology (Rb/Sr, Pb/Pb, U/Pb)
  • Stable isotope geochemistry (S, O, C) including stable isotopes as tracers in oxidation processes (e.g. sulphide oxidation in acid mine drainage)
