First European Green Office Summit

Date: 16.-19.10.2014

Location: HU Berlin, Friedrichstraße 191

IRI THESys, Sustainability Office HU Berlin and rootAbility will host the „FIRST EUROPEAN GREEN OFFICE SUMMIT“, which will take place in Berlin this coming October. 45 young people from 16 universities in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Sweden and Germany, who are working in student-driven Green Offices at their university or do research about sustainability transformation in higher education will be participating in this summit.

We meet to exchange experiences and knowledge concerning

  • the establishment of a Green Office
  • sustainability strategies of different universities
  • the implementation of projects in operations, teaching and research
  • the evaluation of sustainability efforts at universities
  • networking among stakeholders and Green Offices across Europe

The summit is a big step forward to spread the idea of student-driven sustainability units in higher education and towards a united Green Office Movement.

Green Offices and initiatives of the following universities will take part:

  • From UK: University of Greenwich; University of Exeter ; Canterbury Christ Church University
  • From NL: Maastricht University; University of Utrecht; University of Wageningen; Erasmus University Rotterdam; Rijksuniversiteit Groningen; University of Delft; University of Leiden
  • From GER: Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin; University Witten Herdecke; Herthie School of Governance; University of Hildesheim; Technische Universität Berlin
  • From SWE: University of Lund
