In this workshop organized in the context of the DFG project “Common Grounds: Social Justice and Cultural Practice in Shared Places,” the conveners Dr. Nathalie Aghoro (LMU) and Prof. Dr. Tsitsi Jaji (Duke University) asked questions regarding Black feminist intellectual and communal practice in times when being in the same place together is not always and no longer and option. Anne Potjans contributed to this workshop with a position paper titled “Tales of being in Communion,” touching on Audre Lorde’s presence in Germany and her impact on the modern Black German movement. She asked questions such as how can we contextualize this presence within our current political moment, and what is the function of those stories and memories for how to continue from here.
