Sarah Sanders-Messmann is in her second year of the English Literatures Masters program at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Parallel to her studies, she is working on a project that ties together archival and literary research, oral history, and creative writing to (re)trace the story of her matrilineal family history from the period of enslavement to the present day.

She, together with Katelynn Ramey, is one of the student assistants working with the Tales of the Diasporic Ordinary team.
