Thao Ho

is a PhD candidate in the ERC Consolidator Grant Project “Tales of the Diasporic Ordinary” at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, within which they work on the project “Last Night I Dreamt of the Sun: Diasporic Aesthetics of Remembrance and Embodiments of Resistance in Germany, the US and Vietnam.” 

Thao Ho was a research trainee at Schwules Museum & Archive where they focused on transnational queer movements, intersections of archival, artistic and activist practices, and the globalisation of queerness in the South East Asian context. 

In 2017, they initiated DAMN*, a fluid activist collective and political platform that connects, amplifies and mobilizes members and voices of the Asian diaspora in Germany against intersecting discrimination through political community organizing, education and empowerment.

Ho’s research interests include alternative cinematic practices and performance, study of political and social movements, diaspora and refugee studies, queer and trans epistemologies, postcolonial studies, sound studies. 

They have given talks at CTM Festival, Maxime Gorki Theater, MärzMusik, Radical Film Network, Weißensee Kunsthochschule on the politics of noise, temporality, political organising and aesthetics of resistance.
