This semester, to honor the 200th anniversary of the founding of the university, and to try out something fun and new, the Language Centre offered a course, “A Walk with Humboldt,” in which students prepared their own walking tour to the important historical sites in the centre of the city, using Humboldt as the thread to tie it all together. The premiere was on 5 June and was a great success. The students put an enormous amount of effort into preparing this tour, and they not only had a wonderful opportunity to practice their public speaking skills, we all learned a great deal about the public and private lives of the Humboldt brothers, the history of the university and the likely future of the Humboldt Forum. …weiterlesen »
